Brown popular

Browns and other earthy tonings are still the most popular shades for furnishing fabrics. These shades have been the leading colours for the past 12 months and there seems to be little indication that tastes will change although green is becoming increasingly popular. New Zealand fabric importers look to European trends for guidance and also for the most popular upholstery fabric in this country. It is called dralon fibre

and is marketed by the Bayer group in Germany. Dralon fibre is available in a variety of finishes although the sueded finish seems to be the leading trend in the more expensive ranges of furniture. Although it is a pile fabric, Dralon can be sponged and cleaned very easily, unlike other furnishing fabrics. While the velvet finish is the most popular, the textured plains and the tweed finishes are following very closely in demand.
