Foster in telethon
Barry Foster, who plays the title role in Thames Television’s detective series, “Van Der Valk,” will be one of the guests for this year’s telethon. New Zealand viewers will remember him not only as Van Der Valk, but as Kaiser Wilhelm in “Fall of Eagles.” His film appearances include parts in “Robbery,” “Inspector Clouseau,” “King and Country,” “The Family Way,” “Twisted Nerve,” “The Guru,” “Battle of Britain,” and “Ryan’s Daughter.” He was born in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, and was educated at Southall .County Grammar School. He spent two years at the Central School of Speech and Drama, and his first job in the theatre was with Anew Mac Master, touring Ireland with a Shakespearean production. His hobbies include music, riding, and golf.
