Many housed unsuitably
PA Auckland Many families were being forced into unsuitable housing with little chance of ever owning their own homes, the president of the Real Estate Institute (Mr T. F. Molesworth) told the Auckland branch annual meeting. “Until recently too much emphasis has been put on the building of new houses with finance channelled through the Housing Corporation and available to those in the low-income group,” he said. This had left many people only a few steps up the scale from this group unable to purchase a house because of lack of mortgage funds, especially for existing properties.
