Nuriootpa may race at Te Rapa

The Riccarton-trained Nuriootpa has been entered for the Waikato Racing Club’s weight-for-age feature, the Founders’ Plate, 1600nr to be run on May 21. In the meantime he will race at the Wellington May meeting, his first start there being in the Wadestow-n Handicap, 1400 m, next Saturday.

If he comes through that race satisfactorily Mr Don Cameron’s C.J.C. George Adams Handicap winner, might be given his first test at 2200 m in the Gloaming Stakes on the second day at Trentham.

Phillip Smith, the Riccarton jockey who won the George Adams Handicap on Nuriootpa, has been engaged to ride the four-year-old at Trentham.
