Bowls title to Thomas

Owen Thomas deservedly beat Trevor Austin (U.F.S.). 12-8 In the final of the New Brighton R.S.A. 50-sO_ indoor bowls tournament at Kearneys Road yesterday. The New Brighton R.S.A. player started very convincingly to lead 10-1 after six ends, with a four on the first end, a single on the second, and twos on tlie third, fifth, and six ends. Austin scored a two on the seventh and a three on the ninth, in something of a comeback, but Thomas was still in front. 11-8, with three ends to Play. Singles on the tenth and eleventh ends gave Austin a faint remaining chance, but Thomas scored a single on the final end and clinched his victory. Thomas had a convincing 9-3 win over Alf Williamson 'Garden City) to get to the final, and in fact, allowed his opponent to score on only one end. The other semi-final was not quite so one-sided, but Austin's win over Pat Thomas (Lincoln) was still ven comfortable, and Thomas could score on only three of the ends Results:—
