Cathedral scarf for sale

The sale today of a 540 ft knitted scarf to raise

funds for the Christchurch Cathedral restoration appeal has already begun successfully — BP New Zealand. Ltd. has offered $2OOO for the first sft length. Fifty people — including a class from the Cathedral Grammar School — will parade the scarf like a Chinese dragon from 3ZB’s studio in Colombo Street to Cathedral Square for the official presentation today. The knitters of the scarf say it should be able to reach around the cathedral. After the BP cheque has been handed over the scarf will be cut into sft sections and sold to the public.
