Lunch not in cells
PA Auckland The JBL accused do not have to eat their lunch in the Supreme Court cells during their trial. Special arrangements have been made to allow them to have a room in the law library at the rear of the court. This is to enable the accused to work with their counsel. One prison warder and a policewoman sat alongside the nine accused yesterday as the Crown prosecutor (Mr D. S. Morris) opened the case. The accused are forbidden to leave the precincts of the court during the day, and will be accompanied by a policeman during lunch and tea adjournments. Meanwhile, bail for James and Vaughan Jeffs during the trial has been reduced from $20,000 and a similar surety each to $5OOO and $lO,OOO respectively. The other accused remain on $5OOO bail.
