Minister says Govt erred
PA Dunedin The Minister of Energy Resources (Mr Gair) admitted that the Government had erred in the way it announced Scheme F for the Clutha Valley hydro development. Some of the misunderstanding which developed could have been obviated if the decision had been announced differently, he said. The Government had learned a lesson from its mistake. Mr Gair was addressing a meeting of the Upper
Clutha Development Committee in Clyde, as part of a one-day tour of Central Otago. He was replying to criticism by the chairman of the Clutha Development. Committee (Mr S. A. Kane) that the Government’s public relations were not the best. Mr Kane said the Government had erred in not coming to Central Otago and giving full reasons for the decision for schema F.
