Ugandan coffins full of beans
NZPA-Reuter Nairobi Ugandan smugglers are filling coffins with coffee beans, hiring professional mourners and carrying the valuable commodity into Kenya, Radio Uganda has reported. The smugglers’ favourite route — by boat across’ Lake Victoria — is under] fire from Ugandan helicopters. Earlier this week Uganda Radio reported that marines] had captured 24 smugglers] on the lake with 500 bags of' coffee worth more than $55,570. They could face] death by firing zquad under] the country’s tough laws | against economic sabotage.
