Four-year-olds should have good innings

F o u r-year-olds should have a good innings at Addington Raceway today when the Metropolitan Trotting Club ends its Easter' meeting. They are eligible for seven of the nine races, but will not be represented in the; New Zealand Trotting Championship, a race for which Nigel Craig will be an oddson favourite. Everything points to four-' year-olds having a big sayin the decision of the two legs of the T.A.B. double.; ! Stanley Rio and Bolton Byrd are expected to be two of the favourites for the SI 5,000 Easter Cup. in which

Trusty Scot and Direct; Magic are others of the same age capable of a bold run. , Olga Korbut is one of four, four-year-olds in the G. W. I Blaxall Handicap. Glenwood, Lord Moose and Smokey' Lopez are well up to the class, but on performances, on the first two nights might! find Waitaki Dawn and, Gariya too good. Cutaway and lisa Voss will challenge the older horses in the Wilkins Handicap and will be hard pressed to match Sharmbro in what will be the first leg of the 'on-course treble. Bronze Queen. Mandarin and Babrow will give the four-year-olds strong representation in the Members',

'Stakes, in which Black Stump, Mandy Seth and Joilit'cation, all of the same age, will have supporters. Then, in the Au Revoir I Stakes, they will have six ; runners, Rocky Tryax. Kiwi Kid and Rebecca’s Pride appealing most of the group. But bold runs from Star !Chance, Avalon Globe and i Swift Princess will not be surprising. The Monte Carlo Handicap and the New Zealand Wellcome Stakes will be the other legs of the on-course treble. Bronze Trail, a costly failure when he broke after about 400 m last week, will probably be favourite once more, but Spangles Gold, from Oamaru, could run him close.
