Parking experience
Sir, —We were visiting Christchurch today for shopping, and my 70-year-oid mother had a slight attack of gall stones. Although in pain, she waited in the car for me to complete a few important jobs. While waiting, the meter maid went past and chalked the car tyre. My mother was too ill to move and waited until she returned, was pleased to see her, immediately offering her 10 cents to feed the meter. However, the meter maid ignored her and wrote out a ticket. My mother was upset, especially when told the meter maid had a job to do, and was not there to feed meters. I agree. But people in al] walks of life have to give and take. —Yours, etc., ANN SMITH. April 5. 1977.
