Chairman of N.Z.P.A.
Mr N. L. Macbeth, editor of “The Press” has been elected chairman of the New Zealand Press Association for the coming year. He succeeds Mr G. T. Upton, of Auckland, who at the association’s annual meeting yesterday announced his retirement from the board. Tributes were paid to Mr Upton for his work in representing N.Z.P.A. during the last three years on the Reuter Pacific Board, as an alternate director on the Reuter Board, and at meetings of the Board Of Australian Associated Press. It was announced that, at the request of N.Z.P.A. directors, Mr Upton had agreed to continue in these, capacities for a further year. , Mr J. T. McNee, of Wellington, also announced his I retirement from the N.Z.P.A.. board. New directors appointed are Mr Ross Su r s, of Auckland, replacing Mr > Upton, and Mr J. M. Rob- 1 son, of Wellington, replacing Mr McNee.
