Hamner pool fees to rise?

Admission fees to the thermal pools complex at Hanmer Springs should be increased to 50c for adults and 20c for children, the North Canterbury Hospital Board's finance committee recommended yesterday. The charges at present are 20c for adults and 10c for children. The increased fees will offset expenses incurred by the board in improving the pools. A weekly school holiday concession card costing $2.50 for adults and $1 for children should also be available, the committee recommended.

The thermal pools have been run by the hospital board since it took over Queen Mary Hospital at Hanmer Springs in 1972. They are used by hospital patients as a form of rehabilitation, as well as by the public.
