Tongan post to Navy man
A Royal New Zealand Navy officer has been appointed officer commanding the maritime branch of the Tongan Defence Forces—under New Zealand’s mutual aid programme. Lieutenant R. O. Davies, of New Plymouth, is the first New Zealander to hold the appointment, which is for a year.
Lieutenant Davies is widely experienced in patrol craft operations. He was executive officer of H.M.N.Z.S. Hawea before being appointed commanding officer of H.M.N.Z.S. Rotoiti.
