Admiral Byrd takes record
Special correspondent Invercargill The former Southland pacer Admiral Byrd last week tool a 2:0 record In North America when he won a $lO,OOO race at Meadowlands in New Jersey in 1:59. Admiral Byrd was bred by F. A. Barron, of Makarewa who trained him and raced htm tn partnership with the Makarewa syndicate. He was bought by the Central Standardbred Agency and exported to North America, where he has been a consistent winner. A five-year-old gelding by the Adlos Butler horse Butler Byrd, sire of an earlier 2:0 winner in Butler’s Prince (1:57.5), Admiral Byrd is out of the Hal Tryax mare Tryard, whose dam Ardent left the Flying Song mare Fledg "ng, dam of Trusty Scot (1:57.6) This Is the Regina family which has produced others such as Senfield Prince (1:59.2). Butler Byrd has been at the Raven’s Lodge Stud of C. T Woodward at Ryal Bush for the oast two seasona. He is to (land In the Auckland »rea next season.
