Jaunty Hanover 's splendid debut
Jaunty Hanover made an impressive race debut when he won the Travelodge Handicap at Addington Raceway last evening. After being headed by Nicky’s Decision well inside the last 200 m, he came again for Trevor Thomas and won handily by a neck. A three-year-old gelding by Jersey Hanover from the grand race mabg, Allakasam, he is raced by the Highbank trainer, Colin McLaughlin, for whom he is prepared by Thomas. McLaughlin was also represented in the race by All Aglow, a four-year-old daughter of Allakasam. She battled on for third, two lengths and a half from Nicky’s Decision, with La
Romola at the head of the others. ‘ Prince Sylvania was in or ■ near the lead throughout the 1 N.A.C. Easter Holiday Handicap and he ran on ; much too strongly for his rivals. He won by a length 1 and a half from Maori i Maud, with Savoy, Butler’s Lady and the unlucky Robyn Gay almost in line next. i Prince Sylvania was dri- , ven by his part-owner, ; Kevin Townley, who drove the Oamaru-trained Wee ■ Laurel, to out-finish Manchu ; in the W. J. Doyle Handicap. : Manchu gave a much improved display, but he could . not hold out Wee Laurel. > Lightning Tuft made i ground for third, with the others well beaten.
