Rest home to be auctioned

The Mary’s Mount Rest Home, which has been used by the Sisters of the Little (Company of Mary, who run Calvary Hospital, will be ’offered at auction on March The 6000 sq, ft rest home is on a 60-acre sloping grassed property on the Summit Road, between the Sign of the Kiwi and the Sign of the Bellbird. The Sisterr of the Little Company of Mary and nuns of other religious orders have used the home for holidays and week-ends for 10 years. The home was built by the Little Company of Mary in 1925 and was originally used as a convalescent home for Calvary Hospital patients. The home was now too big for the sisters’ use, and maintenance costs were high, said Mr Woodward. The Little Company of I Mary will look for a much 'smaller property.
