Magistrate's Court Several in court after rock concert

Several persons appeared' in the Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges arising from behaviour at the Rod Stewart Concert at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Monday night. The charges included 1 drunkenness, obscene language. offensive and disorderly behaviour and resisting arrest. Peter Gerard Axford. aged 18. an apprentice mechanic, was fined $25 by Mr N. L. Bradford. S.M., on a charge of behaving in a disorderly manner at the park. Detective Sergeant D. K. White said that at 10 p.m.. a security guard at the concert saw Axford throw an object on to the stage. Axford admitted throwing an apple but said that he did not know why. The duty solicitor (Mr R A. Ayton) raid that there were a number of persons behind the defendant throwing things on to the stage including cans and bottles. Axford was hit on the head by an apple and. foolishly, he threw it on. Malcolm Goodwin Aslin Rough, aged 20. a third year Lincoln College student, was fined .$2O when he pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in an offensive manner at the park. Sergeant White said that at 10.40 p.m., when the concert was over, and the public was leaving the park area. Rough relieved himself against the pipes of the stage scaffolding. The area was brightly lit and he could be seen by scores of people. Mr Ayton said that Rough had blotted his unblemished record Jonathan Brent Wilkinson, aged 22. entered no plea to charges of resisting arrest and using obscene language at the park. He was remanded to March 8 to seek legal advice. Phillip John Barker, aged 17. pleaded guilty to a charge of being found drunk in the; car park at the concert. Hej was fined $lO.
