Beeved fans protest
Pop fans who are angry about bad behaviour at the Rod Stewart concert at Queen Elizabeth 11 Park on Monday night will have a chance to make thei. complaints officially. “If the'people concerned care to come and discuss the incident with us. we would be prepared to examine what occurred.” the head of the Christchurch police district (Chief Superintendent G. E. Twentyman) said yesterday. Beer cans, bottles, and other missiles w'ere thrown during the concert, and three persons were taken awav by St John ambulancemen after being struck by flying objects. Mr Twentyman refused to comment about allegations by a woman that she had been given no help by policemen after being
struck on the back if the head by a beer can. F The woman said she had approached two young policemen, and had asked them to do something about the actions of a group standing behind her. She said a senior police officer had intervened, and had told her: "If you come to these things, you can expect this sort of behaviour." The woman said she was told by the officer to approach one of the security officers at the park “if you want anything done about it.” When the woman’s complaint was referred to Mi Twentyman by “The Press” yesterday, he said h< was not prepared to comment on something h had heard "second or third-hand.”
