Trial run of ‘Fair Go’
By KEN COATES
Television One plans to produce a pilot or trial run of its new programme dealing with the consumer and his rights before the first of the series is screened on April 7.
The series is to be called “Fair Go” and the producer, Peter Morritt, hopes it will give individuals the chance to discuss on air, such things as disputes with their bosses, complaints against prices and products and matters involving local government.
He says the programme is not designed as a vehicle for petty bickering between people of opposite viewpoints. It is hoped that it will be constructive, honest and helpful, and will attempt to remedy complaints from the consumer.
Reporters on the pro
gramme will be Dr Brian Edwards, who will be the anchorman, Spencer Jolly and Gillian MacGregor. Spencer Jolly said yesterday each programme in the series would try to present one or two major stories with several light and humerous items designed to give pace and provide entertainment. The main aim of the pilot, which would not be screened on the network,
was to achieve balance and pace. He could not give details as to what subjects would be covered in' the first programme. “The disputes with which we will be dealing have a habit of being settled so at this stage we cannot defnitely say we will be dealing with any specific complaint,” Spencer explained.
