Fashion contest at Riccarton
A search will be on to find the most, suitably dressed woman on the Riccarton Racecourse next Saturday. The Gaytime Fashion Contest will be held during the Hororata Racing Club’s summer meeting on March 5. The judges will not be looking for “wayout” fashion, but the outfit that looks smart and right for the day.
The winner will receive a voucher worth $lOO for clothes to be selected from Gaytime Fashions in Amberley. She will be able to select from a wide range of fashion and knitwear from leading fashion houses, as well as a carefully selected collection of fashion knitwear for men from the House of Glengyle.
Three judges will select contestants from among the patrons on the course until the fifth race. The finalists will parade on the Totalisator lawn for final judging after the sixth race. If the weather is wet the final will be held in the Jockey Club bar.
The presentation will be made to the winner of the contest in the birdcage after the seventh race. One of the judges is an Aucklander. His co-judges are from Christchurch.
