Salvation Army near centenary
The Salvation Army will be 100 in 1980, and to mark the event about 10.000 church folk will attend a world centennial conference in Adelaide — the army’s birthplace. Large contingents will come from New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia for the 10-day celebrations, in September, 1980. As well, the Salvation Aitov in Australia will give financial support to “missionary countries” to send delegations. Adelaide has been chosen for the conference because it was there that the first Salvation Army service was held 100 years ago. /
