Although David Trist, the former New Zealand med-; ium-pace bowler, has not played senior cricket this' season, he is included in the; Burnside-West ■ University ■ team for the South Island; final of the Schick clubi knock-out series against Taieri (Otago) at Mosgiel to-; morrow. Burnside-West is at full; strength for the match. To support Trist with the pace I attack, there is the highly-: promising Canterbury Brabin bowler. Steven Bateman,!; who has claimed 30 senior wickets this season. Gerald Cummins, a Newl] Zealand schoolboy represen-' tative this year, is a highly-; regarded quick bowler, and ; the all-rounder, Kevin Wil-, Hams, and John Smith are: useful medium-pace bowlers. , Bhiku Bhana will be relied on to provide the off-spin. j The return from Neison of! Matthew Toynbee will add depth to the Burnside-West batting. Toynbee played the first three matches for Burn-L side and compiled 163 before returning home. He repre- ;
sented Central Districts in . the Rothmans tournament: and was later selected as I ■captain of the New Zealand! Rothmans XI. The aggressive opener,, John Mitchell, and Colin! ißlackman. Brian Hastings, Peter Wallace and Kevin ;C-Ilins give substance to the I batting. Mitchell, the capitain, has scored over 550 runs in senior club cricket this season. Taieri has the former New Zealand wicket-keeper. Barry! ! Milbum, and the left-arm ’ Otago Shell spinner, Don; i McKechnie, in its ranks. Bobl ’Maxwell has had representa-i ’tive experience and Wayne i Martin played in the Roth-’ mans tournament.
