Oliver Hunter, aged 94, of Diamond Harbour, has vivid memories of this race held 70 years ago from Amberley to Wai para. He recalls that he drank a milky fluid which he thought was milk: but it later tinned out to be photographic developer. Mr Hunter suffered stomach gripes during the race, but still managed to come second on handicap and take fastest time. The race was organised by the Amberley Cycling Club.
