PA \\ ellington The Labour Party opposed the Governments plan to levy a charge on prescriptions, the Opposition spokes man on health. Mr J. 1.. Hunt (New Lynn) said. In a written statement, he said Labour stood firmly by its 1975 election manifesto that al! New Zealanders were entitled to the best possible health services, and that comprehensive medical care should be available to all who needed it. He said the Minister of Health (Mr Gill) had a duty to tell the public whether his senior officials in ihe Health Department agreed with him that people should pav for prescriptions. He should also say whether any discussions had been held with the New Zealand Medical Association on the rrftitter, Mr Hunt said The public should be given full information on what grounds, and with whose support. a substantial number of drugs had already been removed from the free list.
