More companies registered
PA Wellington The number of companies registered on December 31, 1976, increased by 4440, compared with the corresponding date in 1975, according to figures released by the Assistant Registrar of Companies (Mr K. D. Kerr).
On December 31, 1975 there were 101,666 companies registered. This increased to 106,106 at December 31, 1976. January figures show 106,113 companies registered this year, compared with 101,540 at January 31, 1976. New companies registered throughout New Zealand during December, 1976, numbered 569, compared with 994 in December 1975, while in January this year new companies registered numbered 202, compared with 149 in January 1976. Receivers were appointed to 18 companies during December 1976, and 14 receivers ceased acting. Figures for December, 1975, were 23 and 18 respectively. During January this year, receivers were appointed to seven companies, and four receivers ceased acting. The figures for January, 1976, were 17 and nine respectively. Eleven companies were the subject of court orders to wind up, and 31 went into voluntary liquidation in December, 1976. The figures for December, 1975, were 12 and 32 respectively. Last month no companies were reported as being the subject of wind-up orders, but 16 went into voluntary liquidation. Figures for January, 1976, were two and 21 respectively. Company dissolutions either by liquidation or their names being struck off the Conversion offer The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has been authorised by the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) to offer holders of stock maturing on March 15 conversion at par into 7 per cent stock maturing March 15, 1979, and 8 per cent stock dated March 15, 1982 or 1987. The conversion offer closes on March 4.

During December, 1976, 140 companies increased their nominal share capital by a total of $31,100,825. In December the previous year there were 221 increases. In the corresponding month both years no companies decreased their nominal share capital. In January this year, 66 companies increased their nominal share capital by a total of $8,264,149. In January last year there were 72 increases. Last month one company decreased its nominal share capita] by $299,998 whereas in January last year there were no decreases.
