TODAY In the morning the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh attend a Maori welcome at Rugby Park in Gisborne and open the Royal New Zealand Polynesian Festival. They fly to Palmerston North for a civic luncheon and then on to Wellington where they arrive mid-afternoon. The Duke will speak at a World Wildlife Fund dinner in the evening while the
Queen dines at Government House. SUNDAY A service at St Pauls Cathedral to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Queen’s reign will be attended by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in the morning. In the evening they dine at the official residence of the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon).
