No repetition of cricket cut
i PA Wellington | Cricket fans will not be robbed of television coverage of the closing stages of the second test between New Zealand and Australia, as they were on Wednesday evening. The TVI coverage of the first test at Christchurch ended abruptly at a crucial stage of the game at 6.13 p.m. on Wednesday because the only link available was I required for the South Pacific Television news. Viewers missed watching the final two overs of the game as New Zealand batsmen fought to force a draw.
But the information series head of TVI (Mr Charles Martin) offered reassurance yesterday that there would be no similar cut-off during the second test, starting at Eden Park, Auckland, today. Mr Martin said that it would be possible for both television channels to have links from Auckland south at the same time on the last day of the second test, next Wednesday. The situation regarding Christchurch would be rectified later this year as well, when a second link from there was installed, he said.
