Trainload comes in by bus

Passengers from the Southerner arrived in Christchurch from Timaru bus yesterday — only 20 minutes late — after a derailment of a southbound goods train between Winchester and Orari abjut 3 p.m. Only’ one waggon of the goods train was derailed, and the track was clear again by 7 p.m.

A speed restriction of 50 km/h on express trains, and 30 km/h on goods trains has been in force between Rangitata and Hinds since a goods train was derailed by’ buckled joints in the area on Februarv 13.
