Buddha in demand

PA Auckland A bronze Buddha statue worth about $3OO has been stolen from the Auckland Museum for the second time in two years.

The 18kg statue disapoeared from the Asian section on the ground floor between January 28 and February 1 but the theft was not discovered until last Friday. A man was charged with stealing the statue two years ago but he absconded on bail and is believed to be in Australia.

The statue is 51cm high and is on a 30cm by 21cm base.
