Situation: A depression over central New Zealand is moving east. A ridge of high pressure extends to the south of the South Island from an anticyclone near Tasmania. Forecast: Marlborough, Nelson: Strong or gale southerlies about the Marlborough coasts, with further rain; fresh easterly winds elsewhere, and rain clearing slowly; cool.
Buller. Westland: Easterly winds, fresh at times; rain soon clearing in Buller, and fine weather becoming general during the day; moderate temperatures. Canterbury; Fresh to strong southerly winds, decreasing slowly; rain becoming scattered during the day, with fair periods inland; cool.
