Good for marathon

Tony Good has been included in the Canterbury team of six for the New Zealand marathon championship at Hawera on March 12. This will be his first run over the marathon distance since finishing second to Jack Foster (Rotorua) in the last New Zealand championship in Auckland.

Mel Radcliffe, the winner of the Canterbury title earlier this season in 2hr 19min 38sec, is ranked No. 2 in the ream behind Good. But three of the fastest marathon men in the province are missing — Kevin Hamilton. Frank Brookes and Colin Hicks. Hamilton and Hicks are both on the injured list and Brookes is to concentrate on rhe New Zealand 5000 metres championship on the track.

The team is: Good. Radcliffe. C. Creagh (Greymouth), D. O’Connor (Westport), S. McMaster (Greymouth), T. ‘Stuart.
