La Mer to run if no rain
PA Wellington La Mer is a certain starter for the Lion Brow n Sprint at Te Rapa on Wednesday provided the track is firm. Her trainer. Malcolm Smith, said he was satisfied with La Mer’s No. 11 barrier draw. “She will run as long as there is no rain,” he said. According to Smith there was torrential rain in Taranaki during the night and heavy rain was still falling late yesterday morning. La Mer had her final igallop for the Te Rapa event yesterday and ran the last 600 m of an easy gallop in 38sec. On Saturdav she broke 60 for 1000 m. Smith said he would accent for the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Te Aroha on Saturday, and if the track at Te Rapa becomes wet, La Mer will run at Te Aroha. Along with Kythera. an acceptor for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at. Te Rapa. La Mer will travel north today.
