Samples come in very slowly
Samples of wheat for testing were still coming into the Wheat Research Institute in Christchurch this week at a slower rate than might be expected. The inflow was about 100 per day and by Wednesday the total number of samples received exceeded the 2000 mark. But in the country there were reports of farmers
having problems in getting the moisture content down far enough for harvesting to proceed safely, and some reports said that some crops were still growing and green. The director of the institute, Mr R. W. Cawley, said that there had been net change in the quality situation since the report published last week. 1
