Archdeacon appointed
The Rev. R. D. P. Hughes, <icar of Stoke, has been appointed Archdeacon of Majrhera and vicar of Greynouth, to succeed Archdea»n M. Welch.
After serving with the loyal New . Zealand Air ♦orce, Archdeacon Hughes tudied theology at ChristIhurch College, where he graduated with honours in neology.
He has served as assistant pirate at AH Saints’ Church, •lelson, as curate at Rich-nond-Stoke, and r- vicar of ihaura-Brunnerton and later if Kaikoura. He has been dear of Stoke since 1964.
Archdeacon Hughes is marfde, with four children. His wife is a grand-daughter of a ormer vicar of Greymouth, he Rev. J. P. Kempthorne.
