PA Auckland} The results of a survey by! the Labour Department, to establish the average ordinary weekly wage in New Zealand, to provide the basis for assessing die new national superannuation, would be announced in the I first week in January, said (the Minister of Social Wel-i {fare (Mr Walker). { Mr Walker said that he! (expected the average wage (would be more than $llO a :week, and possibly more( (than $lll. Persons aged over 60 would be eligible for 70 per cent of that amount, on a married couple’s rate, from February next year, Mr Walker said. This would rise to 80 per cent by August, 1978. The single person’s rate! would be 60 per cent of the {married rate.
Soccer. —Arsenal r.as signed the former England midfield soccer star, Alan Hudson, from its first division rivals Stoke City for about £200,000. A few hours earlier Arsenal parted with another e.x-England man John Rad- | ford, to its London neighbours, I West Ham for £30,000.
