Robbed in toilet
Christchurch detectives are still seeking the man who attacked and robbed an elderly pensioner in a toilet at Noahs Hotel on Thursday evening. Ernest Merritt, aged 70, of 65 Garreg Road, Bryndwr, was hit on the head in the toilet about 7 p.m. and robbed of a watch and about $BO in cash. Mr Merritt, who also suffered lacerations to the face and hands, was dis-
charged from Christchurch Hospital yesterday afternoon. The police described his attacker as a Maori, aged about 25, about sft lOin, of solid build, with black hair. He was thought to be wearing a tartan jacket, light blue shirt, and denim jeans.
It was the second robbery in the toilet of Noahs Hotel on Thursday evening—a man was knocked unconscious about 5.20 p.m. by two men, who escaped with about $2O.
