Forster story

The B B.C. adaptation of E. M. Forster's novel “A Room With a View” is this week’s "Sunday Feature” on TV2. Starring Judy' Geeson in the lead role of Lucy Honeychurch, the play is a precise and witty picture of English society at the turn of the century. The Honeychurches are wealthy and live pleasantly in the country; the Emersons are unconventional and ‘‘Something to do with the Railways.” But once abroad, the English are temporarily united under the banner of tourism. It is in Florence that Lucy Honeychurch meets George Emerson (Tom Chadbon). She has had the typical upbringing of a girl of her class; he is an impetuous young socialist, preoccupied with searching for meaning in human existence. Miss Geeson’s most res cent televison credits include ‘‘Lady Windemere’s Fan” and “Poldark” but she is better known to film goers for her’roles in “To Sir With Love,” ‘‘Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush,” “Prudence and the Pill,” “Ham-

merhead.” “Three Into Two Won’t Go” and “The Executioner.”
