Nurse’s age in doubt

NZPA London A nurse sacked in a guessing game about her age is planning an appeal to ani industrial tribunal. Jennifer Rinnell, who was bom in the Solomon Islands has been dropped from a full-time midwifery course at Pontefract General Infirmary because she cannot prove how old she is. She has made a sworn; statement that she is 42 but: the Central Midwife Board claims she is at least 52. Nurse Rinnell began her course in July last year and would have finished her training early next year. A nursing official said Miss Rinnell had given her date of birth on various occasions as 1928 and 1924. If it was 1924, she would have been too old for admittance to the course and her training was therefore cancelled, the official said. A union official said it was

a fact that she did not know when she was born. “It is a terrible situation to be in,” he said.
