Meeting on site works

Site works for the new $600,000 Kaikoura High School will be the subject of a meeting to be held in Kaikoura today.

The meeting will be attended by representatives of the Canterbury Education Board, the Kaikoura High School board, the Marlborough Catchment Board, and the Ministry of Works. The member of Parliament for Marlborough (Mr E. G. Latter) and the Regional Superintendent of Education (Mr R. U. Roy) will also attend the meeting.

Mr Roy said that he believed that problems related to the site development of the school could be resolved. He was “most anxious” that building the new school should begin soon, as Kaikoura had long been waiting for a definite proposal. The Canterbury Education Board, which is undertaking planning for the new school, said on September 18 that it hoped that work would begin on the new school in April next year, and that the school would be completed by the end of 1979.
