Air New Zealand’s contribution to the nation’s balance of payments through earning or saving overseas exchange reached a record $75 million in 1975-76. The amount is revealed in the company’s annual report. The airline’s total revenue for the year was $165 million. Its profit was $5.5 million. ■ .World tourism is still booming, according to a report.by the International Labour Organisation. The number of people taking foreign holidays should reach 300 million by 1980. However, the new generation of tourists will be more discerning than their parents and the future could also see a downward trend in package holidays. ■ Rarotonga’s luxurious new tourist hotel is nearing completion and should be operating about April. By taking advantage of advance purchase fares. New Zealanders should find the Cook Islands a reasonably cheap and attractive holiday venue.
