Todd chairman dies
I PA Wellington I Mr Andrew Todd, chairman of the Todd Motors group, has died in Wellington. A member of a wellknown family which had its New Zealand business origins in Otago in the late IBBos, Mr Todd, was born in Heriot, Otago, in 1904, educated at the Christian Brothers School, Dunedin, and Riverview College, Sydney, and joined the family firm in Dunedin in 1924. In 1928
|he took over the management of the Auckland oper--iations and, in 1934, he bes'came responsible for establishing the company’s motor assembly works al Petone — - the second assembly plant to j be established in this coun- - try. The operation was s recently transferred to Todd i Park, Porirua. Later, he became manag- - ing director of the motor i group, and, on the death in , 1970 of his brother, the late i Sir Desmond Todd, he be- ( came chairman.
