Man received robbery money

A man admitted receiving 'part of the money taken in the armed robbery of the Barrington Park Mali Supervalue supermarket earlier this month, in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Terrence Michael Burke, aged 25, unemployed, pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving from Anthony Arnold Hawkins the sum of $llO in cash. He was convicted and remanded to November 23 for sentence by Mr N. L. Bradford, S.M. An application for bail by counsel (Mr C. K. Steven) was granted, and bail was set at $4OO with a similar surety.

Sergeant J. C. Rowe said that between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on November 3, there was an armed robbery at the supermarket in the Barring-

ton Park Mall, and more than $ll,OOO in cash was taken. Hawkins and another man have been charged with the robbery. On November 3, Hawkins went to a house in Gilberthorpes Road in Hornby and gave the defendant $6O, Sergeant Rowe said. The next morning he returned and gave Burke another $5O. Burke admitted receiving the money. He said he knew that the $6O was stolen money, but did not know it was taken in the armed robbery. However, he admitted that he knew the $5O he got the next morning must have come from the robbery. Burke had known Hawkins for about a week, Sergeant Rowe said.
