Thomson helps Queensland win
NZPA Brisbane The Australian test fast bowler, Jeff Thomson, grabbed five wickets in Queensland’s Sheffield Shield win over South Australia at the Brisbane Cricket Ground. Queensland won by an innings and 45 runs with Thomson taking five for 32 off 9.3 overs.
Scores: Queensland 238 beat South Australia 97 and 96 (G. Cosier 42; P. Carlson 4/10. J. Thomson 5/32) by an innings and 45 runs. Cricket.—The third three-clay women’s cricket test match between Indian and West Indies ended in a draw. The two earlier tests at Bangalore and Madras were also drawn. Rugby.—France, outplayed by the Rumanian pack in the second half, lost, 15-12, to Rumania in a rugby international at Bucharest.
