Exports up 47 per cent

PA Wellington New Zealand’s total exports for the year ended June 30, 1976, valued at $2,371.6M f.0.b., increased by 47.1 per cent on the previous year, the Government Statistician (Mr E. A. Harris) said yesterday. The increase, which includes re-exports, was $759M.

Imports for the same period were valued at $2,927.7M c.i.f., which was an increase of $190.2M or 6.9 per cent, over the 1975 trade year. Mr Harris said that the increase in the value of total exports was mainly attributable to meat, wool and butter.

Wool was New Zealand’s most valuable individual export product, bringing in $455.7M in the year. Next came lamb ($261.3M) and beef ($228.7M).
