Woollen mills hit by costs
PA Wanganui Pleading hardship to gain an exemption from the Gov-ernment-imposed price-freeze might be the only way manufacturers of woollen goods can overcome problems created by increased costs for raw materials, according to a Wanganui woollen-goods manufacturer on Wednesday. The manager of the Wanganui Woollen Mills, Ltd
(Mr D. Holroyd) said that though the company would normally have placed orders for wool at this stage of the wool-buying season, it had neither bought any new wool nor had it placed any. orders. While he could not indicate how much longer the company could manage with its existing stockpiles, he predicted that it would have to buy wool “fairly soon.”
