Aust. market firms
The Australian sharemarket emerged out of the doldrums yesterday, to take news of the Poseidon receivership in its stride and stage a moderate rally. B.H.P. was back at the 700 c level with a 20c rise, and the rights gained 14c to close at 300 c. EZ Industries rose 10c to 320 c and Lend Lease 5c to 260 c. Myers, National Bank rights, and the B.N.S.W. were others to firm. CSR was slightly weaker along with Philip Morris. On the mining boards, Peko-Wallsend was raised 10c to 480 c and Hamersley 5c to 225 c. Pancontinental advanced 20c to 1050 c, while Utah, Bougainville and Ocean Resources firmed. Woodside-Bunnah closed 4c dearer at 119 c, but A.A.R. eased 5c at 95c as was Queensland Mines at 225 c.
