League wrangles meeting
PA Auckland The New Zealand Rugby League president, Mr Ron McGregor, is expected to fly to London on Saturday for. a meeting designed to solve the wrangles which threaten next -year’s international championship. The New Zealand league learnt yesterday that a meeting of the international board will be held in London today. The meeting has been called to straighten out the England-Australia argument on money and whether Wales should play in the next year’s championship. The New Zealand league, which meets tonight, has already settled its thoughts on these. It believes the international board should stay in session until the finances from the 1975 competition have been settled and that it should be decided that the 1977 championship will be staged. Australia has said it wants Great Britain in the championship, not Wales, while the English league has said it will not compete unless Wales is allowed in.
New Zealand, for its part, has included Wales in the programme it has devised ' for the championship, which ; will be largely played at Carlaw Park.
