Soldiers go by air
The main force of New Zealand soldiers to take part in a multi-national exercise in Australia this month will, leave Christchurch Airport this morning. About 200 infantrymen will be flown by three R.N.Z.A.F. Hercules to the exercise area near Rockhampton. in Queensland. The last two plane-loads will leave Christchurch on) Saturday morning. An advance party of 31 left last Friday, and 79 sol-) diers sailed from Lyttelton' the following day in H MN.Z.S. Taranaki More than 400 New Zealand regulars — most ofi them from the 2/1 Battalion at Bumham Military Camp — will take part in the,, exercise, named Kangaroo ll,i from October >6 to 28.
