Wooden spoon doll
Wooden spoon dolls, with their brightly painted faces, are old toys and used to be very popular with peasant children in European countries. Try making your own. You can give her a gay or grumpy face, or a sad or solemn one, but whatever it is like you will find that she is a sturdy and loyal friend. You need:— 1 wooden spoon; scraps of coloured material, including sequins and felt; paint; white glue; coloured string. 1. Paint your doll’s eyes.
mouth, and cheeks in the bowl of the spoon. 2. Glue scraps of felt around her face for hair. If you have pieces of fur, you may prefer to use them instead. 3. Cover and glue on to the handle scraps of coloured material. Braid can be used too. Add sequins for the doll’s buttons. 4. Cut out in felt ear and nose shapes and stick them on to her face. 5. Fold a square of material diagonally to form a head shawl for the doll and tie it around her neck with coloured string.
